Cystic Fibrosis WA Chief Executive Officer and former KPMG partner Lisa Bayakly has been appointed to the Healthway Board for a three-year term.

Ms Bayakly has significant experience in organisational, research and grant governance, and financial management, and has engaged with Boardrooms and Committees, including Audit and Risk Committees, within government, and health and not-for-profit organisations.

Ms Bayakly’s financial and business expertise is a welcome addition to the Healthway Board. She will join current Board members Professor Peter Klinken AC, Ms Miriam Borthwick, Mr Steve Harris, Professor Donna Cross OAM and Mr Jim McGinty AM.

Miriam Borthwick has also been reappointed as Deputy Presiding Member for a further three-year term. Board member Professor Cheryl Kickett-Tucker AM has recently resigned after serving four years, and her replacement is currently being investigated.

Presiding Member Professor Peter Klinken AC welcomed the extension of Ms Borthwick and welcomed Ms Bayakly to the Board saying she brings a health outcomes focus and strategic mindset.

“We are fortunate to gain Lisa’s expertise and knowledge of governance, financial and risk management following Stephen Carre’s departure after six years of service on the Healthway Board.

“She joins a passionate and dedicated Board, and we look forward to working with her to achieve our vision of a healthier WA.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Stephen Carre OAM and Professor Cheryl Kickett-Tucker AM for their dedication to Healthway and we wish them well in their future endeavours.”
