In 2026, Healthway will celebrate 35 years of creating a healthier WA together.
Established under section 15 of the Tobacco Control Act 1990, we held our first board meeting on 14 February 1991. Since that time, we have funded more than 5,700 organisations to the value of more than $542 million.
In 2016, following review of the Tobacco Act, Healthway’s own Act, the Western Australian Health Promotion Foundation Act 2016, was established.
In 2018, under the McGowan Government’s Machinery of Government changes, Healthway was brought together with Lotterywest.
Healthway and Lotterywest have the same CEO. However, Healthway remains independent, with our own source of funding, our own Board and our own Act.
Lotterywest provides Healthway with services such as office space, human resources and information technology support under a paid service level agreement.
While operating as separate entities, Healthway and Lotterywest seek opportunities to build on synergies and support great community projects which help create a stronger, healthier and happier Western Australia.
