Susan Hunt PSM
Chief Executive Officer
Lotterywest Chief Executive Officer, Susan Hunt PSM, was appointed Healthway CEO effective 1 January 2018. Working across both organisations, Ms Hunt’s focus will be on optimising community funding for the benefit of the Western Australian community.
Prior to her appointment, Ms Hunt spent 14 years as CEO of Perth Zoo, commencing with the organisation in 2004 following a career in public policy, conservation and research. She also has a background as a historian, in research, policy and planning.
In addition to her leadership of the Zoo, Ms Hunt has been the President of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (2015-17) and of the Australasian Zoo and Aquarium Association (2007-2011). She is the author of two books, several articles and the editor of the first global animal welfare strategy, Caring for Wildlife (2016).
Ms Hunt is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Public Administration (IPAA) and the New Zealand School of Government. She is a past Trustee of the Global International Species Information System and is a member of the Board of VenuesWest.
In 2017, Ms Hunt was awarded the highest award in public sector leadership, the IPAA Patron’s Award. In 2010, she was also awarded a Public Service Medal (PSM) by the Governor General of Australia in the Australia Day Honours list for her outstanding contribution to conservation and public service.
Dr Jo Clarkson
Director, Health Promotion
Jo joined Healthway in her current position in 2002. Jo’s early training was in medical research and she has more than 25 years’ experience in the health sector with an emphasis on health promotion.
She gained her Masters in Health Education and Health Promotion in 1992 from the University of Wales. Before moving to Western Australia in 1996 she was an evaluation specialist and programme manager with the “Heartbeat Wales” program, which was the first community based heart disease prevention programme in the UK. Before joining Healthway she was Senior Consultant and then Director of the Health Promotion Evaluation Unit at The University of Western Australia.
As Director, Health Promotion, Jo leads the Health Promotion Division at Healthway, which has responsibility for grants, research, health promotion and evaluation support for the sponsorship program, and strategic health promotion advice across the organisation.
Ms Sue-Ellen Morphett
Acting Director of Sponsorship
Sue-Ellen is an experienced health promotion practitioner. She originally worked for Healthway from 1994 – 1999 and recommenced with us in 2015.
Sue-Ellen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Masters of Health Promotion, which she obtained in 1998. Sue-Ellen has worked for KPMG and the NHS in London. She has previously managed the Smarter than Smoking Project at the Heart Foundation, which was a comprehensive youth smoking prevention project and Healthway’s largest funded project at the time.
As the Acting Director of Sponsorship, Sue-Ellen leads the Sponsorship team in the achievement of Healthway’s strategic health promotion goals in relation to funding for sports, racing, arts and community organisations.
