Healthway is seeking expressions of interest from public venues in Western Australia willing to enter into partnerships to facilitate policy and structural reforms that will lead to healthier environments for community participation.
Key priorities for Healthway include reducing harm from tobacco, reducing harm from alcohol, and reducing obesity. Relevant structural/policy changes relating to these priority areas may include:
- Implementing smoke free areas that extend beyond legislative requirements;
- Improving the availability of healthy food and drink options, and decreasing the availability and promotion of unhealthy options; and
- Implementing best practice policies relating to the availability and service of alcohol.
The aim of this type of sponsorship is to support venues in introducing healthy structural reform. Generally, the term of sponsorship will be 1 to 2 years.
A broad definition of a venue will apply and may include multipurpose stadiums, sports and arts complexes, parks and recreation areas, and other community settings with defined boundaries. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a legal capacity to regulate the venue. Priority will be given in the assessment process to venues with a large volume of turn-over. i.e. substantial patronage.
